THE DISCOVERY OF THE SELF

Humans begin life with a subject/object language model that names the objects of one’s world as person, place or thing (he, she or it). This language model has been used in many languages (English, French, German, etc.).

In the United States, the English language has been used with all of us learning to give names to the objects and people in our world. We also were taught to judge whether something or someone is good or bad, big or little, rich or poor, etc. (The pair of opposites.)

This language model of person, place or thing became our first reality or the language we use to describe our world as well as ourselves. With this language model humans have developed an awesome technology that is at a point of blessing or destroying us.

We are at a point in history when humans seem ready to develop a new language model that fits a universal cosmology. HP/SOS (Holographic Psychology/Science of Spirit), developed by our research team, has been given the job to expose a universal cosmology that is both immanent and transcendent as well as a process language model to assist in our understanding of an evolutionary nature of human beings.

Over the past one hundred years the developing psychological schools provided the research that enabled HP/SOS to use their evidence to expose different stages or levels of understanding a human is capable of both experiencing and comprehending.

First reality is the first level of understanding in which humans learn to form a language that describes their world and themselves. This first reality is what we all start with as our parents and mentors tell us the names of people, places and things and whether they are good or bad, rich or poor, happy or sad, etc. (The pair of opposites.)

As HP/SOS research investigated this first reality model of person, place or thing, we discovered that it fitted the psychological system known as Behaviorism. In this reality we are taught that we witness an outside world that conditions our brain which then produces our behavior. By reducing all behavior to one’s brain (reductionism) a science is developed in which spiritual questions relating to God are left up to one’s religious orientation/affiliation.

This is why humans in a first reality level of understanding cannot realize levels of consciousnessbecause when expressing first reality comprehension one’s conditioned brain must spend its entire life arguing about which definition is “right” or “wrong”.

This is why a human that is still practicing first reality understanding has a brain that is conditioned with definitions that are incapable of testing a new idea.

S/he is unable to speculate about a new idea when his/her currently conditioned brain automatically (knee-jerk) refutes any new idea.

HP/SOS, using the four schools of psychology, is presenting (for the first time in our history) a capability that could hardly have existed before the 1960s and/or 1970 because two of those schools (humanistic and transpersonal) did not even exist until those dates.

In first reality, humans are incapable of researching the cosmological basis of all four schools (behavioristic, psychoanalytic, humanistic and transpersonal) because most human beings that are even studying psychology (in the first reality level of understanding) will have a teacher that has accepted the theories of one of the first two schools (behavioristic and/or psychoanalytic) as their personal favorite, usually having or possessing no philosophical knowledge that the psychological school they have chosen has a cosmological basis of materialism.

Remember, first reality understanding believes that a human is a body with a brain that has been conditioned by its environment to believe what it, the brain, has been “told” to believe by someone else.

When we are still practicing first reality, we are oriented to data being discussed using our current definitions of that data as the basis of whatever is being talked about. Our brain is very similar to our personal bank account. Our “memory bank” in our brain is the sum-total of what has been deposited (conditioned) prior to the point in our personal history when we are “drawing out” of our brain its conditioned data.

In first reality, a brain has no I, ego, self or person to analyze its own “memory bank” because one’s brain can only act on what it has been conditioned to act upon. Subject areas that are not yet conditioned would be unknown and could not come into play.

How would or could a conditioned brain respond to unknown data?

When we try to withdraw funds from our bank account without having money in the account do we not get a “bounced” check? Does our bank tell us that information? Does a bounced check talk?

What is it that would tell our memory bank that we have no “funds” of information about data not deposited yet in our brain? When asked something about data that we have no knowledge about do we not know that we are being asked a question about data that we know nothing about? If we know nothing about certain data how would we be in a position to use our current knowledge as a comparison with what we know nothing about?

Is it our brain that does not know? In first reality, if we only have a body with a brain there is no I, ego, self or person to process a question about unknown data that has been presented to our brain as some form of information.

If a question is asked about law, physics, psychology, philosophy or human relationships, or any other field of knowledge, please advise my brain how it can respond to data that has not yet been conditioned into my brain. In other words, how can I know what I don’t know?

A first reality brain’s use has always been limited to conditioned data (its memory bank) learned prior to any ability to discuss unknown data. How could this be any different?

How would or could you or I be capable of discussing data that our brain currently knows nothing about?

Now we can drop the “bomb”.

If my “knowledge bank” is the sum total or “memory bank” my brain can use to “withdraw” information from, how can it be reasonable or rational to suggest otherwise?

And furthermore, does it really make sense to talk about data being reasonable or rational to a brain?

This is why in first reality a brain is unable (has no such conditioning) to be reflectively aware that it is the brain’s conditioning that is being defended as its reality, not the world or the self that the definitions are describing.

This is why, in first reality, when someone responds or reacts to someone else what is really happening is one’s conditioned brain is responding or reacting to another conditioned brain.

Please tell me how in such a scenario a brain can ever be aware that its conditioning is pretending to be talking about a world of person, place or thing, rather than merely exposing what each brain has been conditioned to “know” and “feel”?

This is why humans for countless centuries have been no different than trained seals performing their training (conditioning). During first reality’s level of understanding any data that was different had to be suspect because how can a conditioned brain deal with data it knows nothing about?

How can a conditioned brain that has been trained to “feel” poor, angry, sad, or limited in any way comprehend that what it knows and feels is not about the world or themselves, but is about their conditioned brain’s acceptances?

This is why until there is an awakened second reality (which is the birth of an I, ego, self or person) there is no way for a conditioned brain to be reflectively aware that it is its “memory bank” (currently conditioned definitions) that is the sum total of information its brain can draw on as its reality.
This is why first reality argues definitions without knowing that it is arguing definitions because first reality believes that its definitions are relating directly to the world, out-there, that is being described.

This is why you have in your article on self-image psychology by Dr. Maltz that the discovery of one’s self-image is the “most important discovery of the 20th century”.

This is also why his discovery died as fast as it was born. People do not discover that they have a “self” with a reflective ability (LOC) in first reality because they can spend their entire life using their conditioned brain believing that they are actually talking about their world of person, place or thing, including themselves.

You mean that I am not talking about my significant other when I describe him or her? I was told that “thoughts were things”.

After second reality (LOC) we are aware that we are talking about our “evaluated” significant other, which is the result of our own conditioning and may or may not even have any truth about our significant other. In first reality my conditioned brain must limit my reality’s scope to its current conditioning.

Why or how can a conditioned brain be aware of itself when, in first reality, it is believed that the world out-there is being related to?

In first reality one’s brain really believes it is talking about a world of person, place or thing, rather that exposing its current conditioning.

Levels of the INFINITE NATURE ITSELF must and do awaken to its awesome nature.

How can a child with a brain that is conditioned by someone else with his or her own limitations be aware that it is his or her parents’ or mentors’ own ignorance that is expressing their own limitation and struggle that they must use to condition their child’s brain?

Try to think of any other expression on planet Earth that has an unlimited potential to express in its current life.

New Thought searchers have trouble comprehending third reality universals (all is whole, perfect and complete) when still operating from a limiting first or even early second reality finite awareness.

The paradigm shift of second reality (LOC) exposes the limitations of first reality conditioning of one’s brain as limitation beliefs.

Until reflective second reality, one is incapable of awakening to the realization that understanding is subjective verification of one’s current identity (a conditioned self-image). Without this paradigm shift into a second reality, humans must and do still believe that they are dealing with a world “out-there” that they love or hate and that they personally are rich or poor, happy or sad, etc. (The pair of opposites.)

Responsibility and empowerment can only make sense after one has awakened to the location (LOC) of where the current conditioning of one’s brain is attempting to continue running the show (current conditioned definitions) because there is no self yet in first reality to be aware that one’s conditioned brain is determining one’s current reality.

We are never actually talking about a person, place or thing the way we believe we are doing in first reality. We are always talking about our current conditioning as an evaluated world rather than the actual world.

This is why it is considered “insane” in first reality materialism for people to declare “I am God”. It is also not funny when a first reality’s brain is told a declaration like “you are God”, when the individual’s brain that is told that declaration has unbelievable struggle and limitation in his or her life.

It is only after the awakening of levels of the INFINITE ITSELF that we can make sense of why one can declare something like “all is God or good” and using such a theory can have awesome results as well as someone else can continue to have monstrous struggles.

How or why would I be capable of knowing the power I AM using when “bashing” anyone or anything in my world unless I am a confirmed masochist that enjoys suffering.
HP/SOS is only for someone awakening to their INFINITE NATURE. Then and only then will this person be aware that it is quite impossible to deal directly with an external world. How we think and feel about our world may, in fact, be creating the very world we currently believe it to be. It is our own conditioning that validates.

There is no such thing as “empirical evidence”. There is no such thing as a “neutral observation”. First reality uses these words because of the belief that one is dealing directly with a world.

The psychological schools expose a human’s evolution (when it is actually happening) because the four schools express the changing cosmologies we pass through when we are evolving in consciousness.

HP/SOS could not justify its claims any more than philosophical claims have ever been thought of as something that could be proven. With the four schools we now have evidence of what can happen to a human being that is awakening to his or her divinity or universal mind.

First reality fits both behaviorism and psychoanalysis because that level of understanding totally believes its conditioned brain is dealing directly with an out-there world that is the cause of its conditioning. The only difference in the two systems is that psychoanalysis adds the past (the unconscious or subconscious or wounded child) along with the present environment as being the cause of the conditioning of one’s brain.

This level believes that one’s brain is reacting directly to its world rather than to its own conditioning which is what is being used to describe its world.

Second reality is the birth of the I, self, ego or person which is now capable of reflective analysis of one’s own conditioning and whether it serves one or not. One is now capable of realizing that one has never actually dealt with an outside world but that understanding of one’s world or self is always a result of one’s current conditioning.

With knowing and feeling located in one’s brain (LOC) one is now into a second reality understanding that is capable of entertaining options to one’s current conditioning for the first time. LOC can be thought of as the birth of “free will” as well as the birth of an I, self, ego or person experiencing this new freedom and ability to choose options.

Responsibility and empowerment cannot make sense in first reality when we are victims of our environment, past or present.

Responsibility and empowerment make total sense in second reality after we have a “thinker” or “self” to analyze the continuation of current conditioning or entertain replacements including options to our current conditioning.

Awareness of awareness does not exist in first reality. Only after the birth of the I, ego, self or person in second reality is choice possible.

Third reality explains first and second reality as the transcendent awakens within one’s conscious awareness. Now God being ALL can make sense because we are no longer slaves to first reality definitions. In second reality we have awakened and consciously participate in change through choice of options creating a new and exciting world as well as a new and exciting self that is now both responsible and empowered. We are now capable of accepting unlimited options.

Remember, before there is an I, ego, self or an aware person the only thing that could be responsible would be my brain which I have been told in first reality is conditioned by the environment.

As I awaken to the transcendent aspect of my being, I discover that God is always a definition of the current level I am living. It is never God that changes, it is my level of understanding that goes from a first reality level of a finite body with a brain (behavioristic and psychoanalytic psychologies) to a second level understanding of a self with both a brain and a mind that is capable of creating a new and exciting world (humanistic psychology).

I then can ask the question that is the awakening of our transcendent aspect“where is potential located prior to its actualization”?

This is the awakening to a third reality in which “our” mind is realized as transcendent or universal mind of unlimited pre-existing potential.

This new “SELF” now awakens to the answer of another question, “what motivates current habits to actualize change?” HP/SOS names the motivating force actualizing the processes of human evolution, “Spiritual DNA”. Many people throughout history named “involution” or “teleology” as the intelligence and design actualizing the processes of evolution. Others named it “God”.

As third reality awakens I AM now aware of why and how first and second reality operate. I AM also aware of an eternal nature that is just beginning to awaken. I use acceptance by degree because I am now using an INFINITE BEING MONISM cosmology declaring that there is only God.

Each level is important and each level justifies itself.

New Thought throughout history is primarily made up of humans awakening to their transcendent spiritual nature. It has been written and presented as perennial philosophies. These were philosophies attempting to teach this awesome nature of the human being.

HP/SOS names this transcendent level of an awakening human being third reality or a mystic in the making.

Level comprehension helps us understand why and how higher levels cannot be comprehended by lower levels. Yes, they are not really higher or lower because they all preexist within the INFINITE ITSELF.

They are, however, certainly expressions of different world views or cosmologies a human believes and the behavior they produce.

But how can I be a part of God and be practicing limitation?

This is a natural question prior to third reality where we awaken to levels of evolution within the transcendent aspect of ourselves.

Remember, in early levels of understanding God is believed to be both supernatural and separated from creation.
In Spiritual Monism or third reality, a blade of grass, a bird, dog or cat, is also 100 God but have more limited options than a human.

The God of third reality is THE INFINITE ITSELF which is eternally awakening via evolution. HP/SOS names the principle that produces this evolution “Spiritual DNA” or Involution.

This awesome potential is forever awakening and creating with awareness or acceptance its only limitation.

This helps explain why someone can have tremendous scope in one area of his or her life and be very limited in scope in another area.

Until LOC, humans cannot be responsible or empowered as long as they are still believing that they are dealing directly with an “out-there” world that is causing their responses.

After we awaken to our world as being an “evaluated world” (a virtual reality), we begin to practice wiser meanings and feelings as our current acceptances.

When life is realized as being eternal we are capable of participating in total joy, love and happiness as we travel our path of awakening.

We stop looking to a future that may be better and start living the awesome nature that life provides for us in the current NOW.

The “I” of first reality is a body with a brain. The “I” of second reality is a self, ego, thinker or person that is creating their world via cause and effect. The “I” of third reality is an awakened eternal SELF that after learning responsibility and empowerment in second reality (LOC) with its decision-making capability is now practicing a wisdom of eternal BECOMING.

Life is awesome as this transcendent level awakens and is lived.
