Location of Comprehension

Pre-Existing Potential

SCIENCE OF SPIRIT
A human now has an ability to comprehend a reflective awareness of awareness or an advanced second reality as well as at least intellectually comprehending a third reality paradigm shift which includes a human’s transcendent aspect justifying a pre-existing potential. A human being is now able to practice change or replacement of old habits with new habits that better serve the individual and his or her world.

THE POWER TO CONCEIVE

QUESTION: Why would a Science of Mind student also require a Science of Spirit education?

ANSWER:
Science of mind as introduced by Drs. Ernest and Fenwicke Holmes entails multiple levels of understanding. These levels have received extensive research since their passing. With the evolution of the science of psychology we now have evidence of three different cosmologies that humans awaken to which gives us examples (evidence) of three different philosophical cosmologies these psychological schools use to base their research on when testing their theories and/or hypotheses. Very few psychologists are aware that their psychological system is based on a philosophical cosmology.

Using these psychological schools as a structure of human evolution we are now capable of comprehending answers to questions that there was no way of empirically testing such questions and answers throughout history.

For example:

    1. Do I believe that creation is happening with or without a creator?

    2. Do I believe that if there is a creator or God and is God a He, She or It?

    3. Do I believe that God created both good and evil, as well as the entire pair of opposites, health and illness, rich and poor, wise and foolish, etc., etc.

    4. Do I believe that I am separate or one with God?

    5. Do I believe that if I am separate do I have any control over my own life?

    6. Do I believe that if God and I are one that my self is both finite and infinite at the same time? How could this be true?

    7. Do I believe that if God and I are one that there is an afterlife for “my” I?

For centuries these are some of the questions that materialistic and idealistic philosophers have attempted to answer conceptually using both a sacred or theological set of questions and answers and a secular or scientific set of questions and answers.

Most people throughout history have been told what to believe by their rulers, both sacred and secular.

On page 120 in the original textbook of Dr. Ernest Holmes which was written in 1922 and published in 1926 he tells us that:

“There is One Infinite Life acting through Law, and this Law is mental; the Law is Mind in action. We are surrounded by an Infinite, Subconscious, Impersonal, Neutral, Plastic, Creative, Ever-Present, Thinking Stuff from which all things come, which, in its Original State, permeates all things. By impressing our thought upon this substance we can cause It to produce for us that which we think, to the limit of our ability to mentally embody the idea. Impressing our thought upon It is not an external act, for when we impress our thought upon ourselves, we are thinking into It; this is because of the Unity of all Mind. This is one of the great lessons to learn; we do not know anything outside ourselves. This is what Jesus meant when He said, ‘Ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free’ (John 8:32). When we know within ourselves we are knowing at the point of that Individualized Spirit which we are; upon the very Heart of the Infinite, the Ever-Present Substance, which is ever responsive to Itself.”

On page 135 Dr. Holmes expresses this awesome cosmology (world view) in graphic form.

On page 77 Dr. Holmes clarifies his use of the term “Mind” by stating that there is only One Mind:

“There is no such thing as your mind, my mind, his mind, her mind and God’s Mind; there is just Mind in which we all live, move and have our being. There is Mind and nothing but Mind. We think of Conscious Mind and Spirit as One and the Same”.
This is clearly stating that there is only God.

If there is only God do we think of God as a He, She or It? Do we understand then that it is a He, She or It (God) that creates galaxies and everything else on planet earth? How can humans be God and practice so much limitation and evil? Don’t humans live and die? Is God limited and evolving along with the rest of creation? What meaning does an afterlife have if God is everything? What happens to a human’s personal personality? Is a human’s afterlife a continuation of the same personality or is there a change in one’s personality? Is my personality mine or God’s? Is God both finite and infinite at the same time? Is there any way of knowing? Paleontologists have evidence of many species that are extinct. Do these species have an afterlife somewhere else? Do humans have any way to comprehend the answers to such questions?

Wait a minute, are you telling me that God is everything? I have a lady friend that just lost her business because of a lack of sales. Are you telling me that she is God? I have a number of friends that are very sick. Are you telling me that all those sick people are God? I also know a number of people with financial problems, are you telling me they are God. I think that you are ready for the “Looney farm”. Are you not questioning my sanity? How can you and Dr. Holmes make such crazy statements? Do we not live in a world of pain and struggle? How can that be a world that is created by a loving God or a God that even cares? How can I or any other person with problems be helped by such crazy talk?

These and countless other questions deserve to be asked and answered if they can be answered.

These and any other questions can now be both asked and answered by research which we are naming for people with a sacred orientation, “Science of Spirit” and for those people with a secular orientation, “Holographic Psychology”. The principles are the same, only the words being used to describe the principles are different.

When we are referring to this research we will use HP/SOS. When we are using any words about any data we will show how and why humans evolve through levels of understanding. The understanding of these questions will change with the level of the individual’s comprehension.

We use the entire spectrum of sacred and secular research to structure HP/SOS.

Nothing is left out.

We will begin our research by stating that in a human’s first reality we believe that we are dealing directly with our world and that we are a body with a brain.
In second reality we will show why and how we discover that words are “external” symbols of internal or subjective evaluations expressed in concepts.

We will show in a third reality that humans discover an unlimited potential that is evolving through three different cosmologies during their lifetime. That each cosmology expresses a reality that is validated by the level of understanding currently being expressed by a human living that level.

The reason this has not been discovered earlier in human history is evolution itself needed to reach a level of understanding in which a human is capable of comprehending and experiencing both the transcendent as well as the immanent nature of him/her Self. A third reality understanding is capable of testing and experiencing all three levels of understanding because each level produces a different reality or cosmology.

The major problem until this century was the lack of psychological research into the three different cosmologies that produce human behavior. We will show why and how this long-time limitation until recently was and still is a result of the lack of a person understanding his/her level changes.

To understand any theory or hypothesis it is necessary to comprehend the meaning of the words used to both describe the theory as well as the description of the solution. This is why HP/SOS uses three different cosmologies to describe the psychology that fits the reality produced by each level.

The first reality is a level of understanding in which a human believes that s/he is observing his or her world directly via his or her five senses. The basis of this belief system is that perception processes in one’s brain and one’s reality is the result of the environment’s conditioning of one’s brain. We can only “know” what we have been taught by external authorities or mentors. We use a subject/object language model to describe our “out-there” world of person, place or thing. What we know is the result of external input, both sacred and secular. First reality names this input “cause” and after our brain is conditioned first reality names this conditioning the “effect”. After conditioning, external input is considered a “stimulus” and the brain’s conditioning is the “response” to the input or s/r.

This body with a brain that is researched in first reality is a victim of his or her world’s conditioning (past and present) and has been studied for some time by Behavioristic Psychology. Our reality in this first level of understanding is the result of our brain’s conditioning and this believed-in level has produced countless cultures having to deal with an ever-increasing complexity.

Using this Behavioristic Psychology cosmology model the above person that was questioning my sanity and the quotations of Dr. Ernest Holmes is totally justified.

Consciousness in first reality is an epiphenomenonon of the brain and any talk about a transcendent aspect of a human being is meaningless conjecture. To talk about a human having a universal mind is to this particular cosmology crazy talk. The pair of opposites are standard procedure in how one’s brain describes its world. I am rich or poor, I am sick or well, I am happy or sad, etc. etc.

If God in first reality is only a conceptual belief located in the brain, God will usually be considered to be a supernatural BEING that is quite different and separate from a human being. This allows the clergy of this first reality cosmology to have a special connection with this supernatural BEING. They are then qualified to interpret “holy writings” (scriptures) and their meanings as well as their reports of personal communication with God will be accepted as truth.

This first reality dualism has dominated the world for countless centuries.

As we now introduce a second reality we will be faced with words that cannot have the same meaning they had in first reality. As we explain these differences it will be up to the reader to be aware if these new meanings are comprehensible. We will find in second reality that our belief system makes those judgments.

In second reality there has been a major paradigm shift in which an individual is now aware that his/her comprehension of the “external world” has been discovered to be in his/her brain as told to us by the Behavioristic Psychologists.

Included as a part of this major shift of second reality is the birth of a self, person, I or ego that Dr. Ernest Holmes named in his original textbook, “the thinker”. HP/SOS names this new ability of second reality LOC or the Location of Comprehension by an I, self, ego or person.

This is a paradigm shift from believing that comprehension is the result of a conditioned brain reacting to external input (cause and effect) to being aware that comprehension is the result of a person’s subjective evaluation (the thinker) accepting or rejecting his or her current conditioning. Reactions are no longer to a world but to an evaluated world that is the result of one’s current conditioning.

It is actually more a capability than a “someone” or “thinker” that is now able to reflect upon his or her own conditioned brain. This awareness of awareness or Location of Comprehension requires a process that is missing in “knee-jerk” reactions (s/r) of a first reality’s conditioned brain when we are still believing that we are nothing more than a body with a conditioned brain that is reacting directly to external input.

Remember, in first reality we believe that our reality is the result of what we have been taught by our mentors or teachers. The data that our brain is conditioned with would be the only reality. With the birth of a self, I, ego or person in second reality we have a reflective awareness of awareness that did not exist before.

That is why we are justified in naming this a second reality: because it includes our first reality data learned via conditioning with a major addition. We are now aware that we do not deal directly with an external world but with a subjectively evaluated world.

This makes us responsible and empowered over our own conditioning. It is our conditioning that makes up our reality, not the world itself. This is an explosive change because we now are aware that our behavior in first reality never had a “thinker” or “self” to decide if our current beliefs are acceptable or not. How can there be any analysis of our current reality if there is no “thinker” or “self” to reflect about what we have accepted as true and is producing our behavior?

Remember, in first reality we believe that we are dealing with an external world, not an internal evaluation that describes that world using our current conditioning.

We can now state another major shift between first and second reality.

The external world in first reality is believed to be comprehended directly as a world of person, place or thing via our physical five senses.

The external world in second reality is discovered to be a comprehended mental world that has been subjectively accepted (conditioned in the brain) and therefore is an evaluated world rather than the actual world.

This discovery of LOC (Location of Comprehension) opens the doorway to an inner world with an I, self, person or ego now capable of participating in his or her own beliefs. Its explosive nature is that for the first time we have a choice because we now have a thinker or chooser. The fact that we are now aware that all beliefs are beliefs about our world and/or ourselves gives us a capability to discard beliefs that no longer serve us or our world. We awaken to options.

We are also now aware that we are more than a body with a brain. We now have a thinker or self to deal with our beliefs for the first time in our life, which makes us responsible for what we think and feel. In first reality we believed that we are reacting to our world, not to our beliefs.

With responsibility for what beliefs to choose we discover that we now have options to replace beliefs that no longer fit our newly discovered evaluated world.

HP/SOS names this process of changing current beliefs with new options, “refereeing”.

This second reality is a total reverse of first reality’s cause and effect.

In first reality our brain is passive to its world’s input. Humans play the victim role. In second reality with the birth of a thinker or self a human changes from a passive victim to an active creator. We are not only capable now of dumping beliefs that are no longer acceptable but we are capable (empowered) to create new options or make choices.

This second reality is a major cosmology change from Behaviorism’s monism that is based on materialism to humanistic psychology’s dualism of a universal mind that transcends the brain as well as a body with a brain. This allows for the birth of consciousness to be comprehended as separate from the brain. Consciousness is discovered to actually program the brain.

The importance of this paradigm shift can never be fully realized until a human is participating in its dynamics. HP/SOS adds a process language model that we begin using when processing (refereeing) change.

Two major aspects of our nature now can be discovered because we have an I or self to be aware of our own awarenes..

1.The power to be conscious.
2.The power to conceive.

Second reality develops the faculty of reflective awareness of awareness which is capable of distinguishing between beliefs that are comprehended in concepts that have been accepted as symbols representing reality.

This is the birth of the “I AM” as a separate self or person that is wonderfully unique with awesome potentials awaiting actualization.

This is the birth of Location of Comprehension in which one’s self-image is recognized as one’s current belief system used to justify one’s reality.

Second reality prepares us for a third reality which is another paradigm shift that is discovered as we again start to ask certain questions.

    1. What motivates a self to actualize change?

    2. Where is change before it is actualized?

    3. How and why would a current belief that has become a habit be capable of dealing with change?

    4. Are there levels of consciousness yet to be discovered?

    5. What motivates new levels to be discovered if my current belief system is in charge?

HP/SOS names this process discovered in third reality our “Spiritual DNA”. It is what has been known for centuries as “involution” or “teleology” in which patterns that both transcend and are within the physical world produce its evolution. This is the universal mind Dr. Holmes speaks of, the collective unconscious Dr. Carl Jung discovered and the capital Self or Absolute of many Eastern teachings.
Self-image psychology helps us understand this awesome discovery that Dr. Holmes lived and taught. It is the discovery of the power of feeling as a new sense in which we discover the identity or cosmology we are currently living and practicing.

1.I feel rich, poor, happy, sad, wise, foolish, sick, well, etc, etc.
2.Self-esteem exposes our limiting beliefs or conditionings when our self-image is practicing limitation of any kind.

Third reality explains the dynamics of first and second reality.

Third reality is a major paradigm shift from an individual identity to a consciously awakening universal source.

1.First reality is a state in which the person is only aware of an external world that is related to directly via the five senses. We believe that we are actually describing the people, places and things in our world including ourselves. We are finite beings that are born, live and die. Life for most is a struggle from birth to the grave. We are reaping the conditioned effect or result of external causes. Our reality is limited to the inner circle below.
2.Second realty is the power to conceive of an internally evaluated world. It is the birth of an I, ego, self or person that is reflectively aware. This new awareness is now capable of refereeing between currently accepted beliefs that are no longer serving our existence with new and exciting options. The mental realm is discovered as creative. We reverse first reality’s cause and effect by being the choosing cause of change with our world the effect. Our reality starts to breakout of the inner circle below.
3.Third reality is the awakening of a participating infinite conceiver to its unlimited eternal nature. As the larger circle is realized as the Infinite Itself we change from the cause and effect of time-space first reality to acceptance-by-degree of pre-existing potential. Most will have learned to practice change in second reality’s Science of Mind by feeling as if the desired change already exists. Eternal change will now be known as third reality’s Science of Spirit and will be the order of the day because this expression lives in the present time of eternal actualizing. All struggle has disappeared as it is the Infinite Itself that is now realized as reality.

Why a human may study both the Science of Mind and later the Science of Spirit is because we are a part of an involution/evolution process that has taken many centuries to reach this point.

The Science of Matter or first reality wakes us up to an awesome world of infinite variety in which humans over the centuries have been discovering an ever-increasing complexity. Limitation has been a human’s materialistic orientation needing help from external sources in both the physical world and assistance from the transcendent world (God).
The Science of Mind or second reality wakes us up to an even more awesome world of our mental capacities. It is the beginning of a freedom and choice capability that transforms both our world and ourselves because we no longer live in a hostile environment after we have located where and how we ourselves are creating our environment. After LOC we are actively participating in what and where we are practicing our meaning-making and feelings of acceptance. We stop trying to change (clone) those in our world because we have realized that change must happen within ourselves before it can manifest in our world.

The Science of Spirit or third reality wakes us up to our eternal nature with an unlimited potential awaiting actualization. Second reality’s Science of Mind taught us where and how to practice change so we are now daily practicing love, joy and happiness as we journey into the life of expressing INFINITY ITSELF.

The above graphic exposes the limitation of first and early second reality in which we are unaware of our universal source. Even though we operate from a universal base (universal mind) our ignorance limits our capability in our early levels of understanding to practice wisdom in how we relate to reality.

As we awaken to our universal base we are aware of why the practicing of limitation in early realities validated in the same way that the practicing of opulence produces abundance.

After the awakened transcendent aspect of our universal ground of BEING we change from a finite body with a brain to an eternal nature expressing an unlimited potential. Life is now a thrilling adventure.

Creativity is now as natural as breathing. It isn’t God that has changed, it is our limited human understanding that has changed. God has always been the basis of everything. That is why even in first reality prayer has always worked for every human regardless of the religion or lack of religion a person believed in.

First reality humans try to imagine a perfect God, which is quite impossible because humans are not capable of comprehending perfection, hence the struggle of the pair of opposites practiced in dualism. It is in the shift into second reality with its Location of Comprehension that we discover the transcendent aspect of a human being that is researched by the Science of Spirit.

An individual can be discovering the awesome potential of his or her universal mind while still believing that s/he is a separate self from his or her Infinite Source. This separation or blind spot can translate into “I create my world”. It is this limiting factor of early second reality that exposes that s/he is still unaware of his or her Infinite Nature.

The power to conceive is the Infinite Itself whether it is expressing as a blade of grass, a dog or a cat, a human or a galaxy. We can now understand the blessing we all have received by the gift of so many throughout history adding piece by piece to the puzzle we are now able to synthesize, test and live.

WHAT AN AWESOME GIFT. Yes, we learn to live a life of fun, love, joy and happiness that includes everyone and everything in our world.

Our comprehension never was or is dealing with an outside world of person, place or thing we described in the subject/object language of first and early second reality. The power to be consciously aware as well as the power to conceive have always been the inner dynamics of the Infinite Itself.

HP/SOS exposes how language models fit the level of understanding that is being used to describe the reality of that level. All concepts are inherent in the power to conceive as possibilities (potential) and are eternal. It is the paradigm shift into second reality that discovers that all concepts are symbols utilized by the power to conceive and are not themselves the things they represent.

Even concepts like “spirit”, “mind” and “matter” are concepts that can act as a limiting factor before they are realized as symbols of one’s level of understanding. The world as well as ourselves use concepts to validate our current realities. The power to conceive always transcends the concepts that are used to symbolize one’s reality.

We are not finite human beings that discover a spiritual nature, we are spiritual beings starting our journey of enlightenment as human beings with a first reality believed-in limited nature.

We practice acceptance-by-degree after locating our transcendent SOURCE. We are no longer causing change we are accepting change. Science of Spirit prepares us for our afterlife as an ongoing journey of love, joy and happiness.
